>Upper rum river meeting

The Upper Rum River Watershed Management Organization (URRWMO) includes the cities of Bethel, East Bethel, Ham Lake, Nowthen, Oak Grove, and St. Francis. Meeting dates are posted on their website (www.urrwmo.org).  URRWMO Board meetings occur at 7:00 PM in the Oak Grove Council Chambers.  Contact John West, the WMO Chair, for specific information on the meeting at (763) 250-9779.  The URRWMO was formed in 1991.  A Board of Managers, appointed by each of the member cities.

The purpose of the URRWMO is to conserve and restore water resources for the beneficial use of current and future generations. We accomplish these goals through the following activities:

  • Managing lakes, streams, groundwater and wetlands
  • Monitoring water quality
  • Promoting best management practices to improve water quality
  • Inventorying natural resources
  • Educating residents about the environment and what they can to help
